Third-Gen Chromecast Up for Sale Even Before Release, Launch Expected on October 9

Third-Gen Chromecast Up for Sale Even Before Release, Launch Expected on October 9Google has scheduled its second major launch event for October 9 at New York, in which the Google Pixel 3 scope is largely expected to watch an unveiling. But this Google event may also see other Google hardware products becoming showcased like a newly leaked Google Home Hub smart speaker using a screen along with a next-gen Chromecast version. An interesting development has surfaced online in which an individual claims he was able to get the upcoming third-gen Google Chromecast from a BestBuy store in the usa before its release.

Reddit consumer GroveStreetHomie chose to the social conversation website this weekend to place an unboxed shot of everything sounds like a Google Chromecast dongle using a different design compared to the presently available second-gen model. As stated by the consumer, the packaging and design seem to differ from the second-gen Chromecast. “I thought it was a design refresh taking queues [sic] in the Chromecast Ultra [sic].” The user notes that the new model seems marginally thicker, no longer has a glossy top, and the Chrome logo was replaced with a small Google logo. It still has a Micro-USB port for charging.

However, the most interesting part of this development is the way he managed to purchase it by a BestBuy store in the United States. “They could not scan the item because it wasn’t in the system yet because the release is about the 9th of October (Same day as the 2018 Google event) but I figure they put it out too early. But because I had it in my hand and was the exact same cost as the 2nd creation Chromecast, they allow me to have it under the older SKU.”

Yet another user on the thread posted a photograph of the new retail boxes of the third-generation Chromecast being available on shelves, however the location wasn’t mentioned. Aside from that, the original poster claimed he was not able to set up to the apparatus as the Google Home app wanted an update that’s hadn’t been released yet.

9to5Google claims to have access to a more pictures of the all-new Google Chromecast which show the box and the device from different angles. The photos also reveal the FCC ID of the new Chromecast which matches with the escapes from last month. The new Chromecast is expected to arrive with Bluetooth support. The rest of the details such as availability and pricing will be clearer at the October 9 occasion.
