Reddit Takes Down Accounts Suspected of Ties to Russian Propaganda

Reddit Takes Down Accounts Suspected of Ties to Russian PropagandaSocial Networking network Reddit Declared on Tuesday that it had Removed Almost a thousand accounts suspected of links into Russia’s Internet Research Agency.

The business stated 316 articles in the Russian accounts were made on the favorite pro-Trump page, The_Donald, which represented extreme support for the New York businessman throughout the 2016 presidential campaign.

The Internet Research Agency, based in St. Petersburg, Russia, employs hundreds of people to push pro-Kremlin content under phoney social networking reports, according to US lawmakers and investigators.

The office of US Special Counsel Robert Mueller charged 13 Russians and three Russian firms, such as the Internet Research Agency, with participating in a criminal and espionage conspiracy to tamper with the 2016 US presidential campaign to encourage Donald Trump and disparage Hillary Clinton.

A court record released in February said those accused “had a strategic goal to sow discord in the US political system, such as the 2016 US presidential elections.”

Moscow denies any meddling from the 2016 elections to assist Republican Trump triumph.

US Senator Mark Warner said in a statement after the Reddit statement, “Since the 2018 elections strategy, I will keep on pressing the country’s intelligence leaders and social networking companies to become far more competitive and proactive in responding to the hazard.”
